About the Film
A message from the film’s main subject, director and producer, Jamie Hoyt:
I’m prepared to vulnerably share my personal stories, along with interviewing others about theirs, and explore what it means to examine life to find healing from trauma. It is my desire to bring awareness and break the barriers to the stigmas associated with mental illness.
I have tried multiple types of therapies, and medications, but can only go as far as the VA is allowed to take me. But I don’t believe in limits. And it’s because of this belief I continue to grow, find my authentic self and voice, heal, and bring light to where it is needed. I explore and examine my life outside the barriers and boundaries, a lot of the times unconventionally, because it is outside those barriers when we can examine our own. By recognizing and asking life’s difficult questions of deeper purpose and meaning, going inward to the cause of our trauma and rewriting the story by applying the healing methods and values used under examining the individual life we live, we can direct our actions and behaviors towards healing. A lot of this has been an individually guided path with meeting the right types and kinds of people, at the right time, who have played a part in my healing.
